Steve:

We have no idea what your objections are to a protest, but with a little extra effort, we can do both the protest and the petition drive.  Secondly, the protest will attract significant media attention, of which we have received little, or none.  Thirdly, the Referendum will more than likely be overturned by a Court Order and we will then have to sue the County anyway, in Courts that almost always lean toward Government.  And finally, protest and civil disobedience may in fact turn out to be the only way that this battle can be won.  They (the Government) have all the votes, our tax money to defend themselves, a judicial bias in their favor and they have all the political power (a Democrat majority).  How can you possibly win a battle against a superior enemy, using their rules?  The fact is Steve, you can't.  Every alternative must be on the table, including protests, civil disobedience and petitions.

Rather than wasting time on a protest I would suggest that you funnel your resources on gathering signatures for the petitions.  You only have five weeks left and gathering 8,200 valid signatures is going to be much more difficult that you think!

TO ALL THOSE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THE PROTEST ON NOVEMBER 23, 2004:

The Seattle Police Dept. is going to great lengths to help us accomplish our goal, and be heard. They have helped us to determine our route, however in order for this to be successful we need to stage at our predetermined areas and then proceed to the Seattle staging area. The staging areas and times are; Leonard’s Restaurant 10:30AM,

Enumclaw Sale Barn 10:30AM and the Hobart Store 10:30AM. Remember bring you friends…………….

A good turn out will let them know we aren’t going to give up the fight and we will prevail………….

Contact your area coordinators for any additional information. Rick Spence, 206-510-2819, Preston Drew, 206-355-8476
